The world is a better place because of these web developers.
The internet as we know it now, wouldn’t exist without them.
They are the “gods of technology” and we should give thanks for their creations in web development. Even something as basic as the domain extension your site sits on traces back to decisions these people made.
Tim Berners-Lee

If you haven’t heard of Tim Berners-Lee by now, you really should go back to school. The British computer scientist is best known as the inventor of the World Wide Web, which he developed in 1989 while working at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research). But that was only one project among many: He also worked on a software platform called ENQUIRE and created a web browser called WorldWideWeb; he also invented things like IMAP and SMTP—tools used by millions every day.
The man is basically responsible for everything we take for granted when we use the Internet nowadays; without his contributions to modern technology, I would never have been able to write this article or any other article ever written.
Linus Torvalds

Torvalds was born in Helsinki, Finland on December 28th 1969. He studied computer science at the University of Helsinki where he also met some other famous web developers such as Alan Cox (who has worked on various parts of Linux including networking) and David Miller (who helped work on several different parts of Linux including device drivers).
Marc Andreessen

Marc Andreessen has been in the tech industry for over 30 years, starting out as a programmer at National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) in 1991. In 1995 he co-founded Netscape with Jim Clark and stayed with them until their acquisition by AOL in 1999 where he served as an executive vice president of product development until 2003 when he left the company to start Loudcloud Inc., which was later acquired by Hewlett Packard for $1 billion dollars in 2004. He then went on to found Opsware Inc., another software company that was eventually acquired by Oracle Corporation who paid over $600 million dollars for it’s services!
John Carmack

John Carmack is known as the father of first person shooters (FPS) because he made several FPS games such as Doom and Quake that were very popular in their time.
Steve Wozniak

He founded the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California in 1996. His special interests are science fiction and artificial intelligence (AI), which he studied at California State University where he obtained his degree in electrical engineering with honors from the Department of EECS (Electrical Engineering).
Alan Turing
Alan Turing is known as the father of modern computing, but he was also a keen mathematician and logician. He created the Turing machine, a theoretical computer that could solve any problem that could be described by a computer program.
So what does this mean? If you’re not familiar with computers and how they work, imagine yourself sitting at your desk solving math problems using pen and paper. Now imagine if instead of using pen and paper to create these solutions, you could use some kind of mechanical contraption that could solve all those problems for you automatically. That would be pretty amazing! And thanks to Alan Turing’s genius invention—the Turing machine—it’s possible today!
Alan Turing also made many contributions in cryptography (the science behind keeping secrets). His code-breaking during World War II contributed greatly towards Britain winning the war against Germany
Larry Page & Sergey Brin
Larry Page and Sergey Brin are both computer scientists with PhDs from Stanford University. Their net worth is $50 billion each.
They’re famous for creating Google, which is the most popular search engine on the internet!
Vint Cerf & Robert Kahn
Vint Cerf and Robert Kahn are the creators of TCP/IP, and they’re also known as the “Fathers of the Internet.”
Cerf and Kahn are both computer scientists who were born in 1940s. Both of them studied at UCLA, then moved to work at Stanford University. They also worked on ARPANET (the predecessor to modern Internet). In 1980s, Cerf became a vice president at MCI Communications Corporation; he worked there until 1988 when he started working for Google as Chief Internet Evangelist while Kahn continued his work at MCI until he retired in 2002 after serving as its CEO since 1997. Both Cerf and Kahn have won many awards including National Medal of Technology Award from President Clinton in 1999; IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computer & Communication Award from IEEE Computer Society Board of Governors in 2001; IEEE Alexander Graham Bell Medal from IEEE Board of Directors & Council on Communications Technology committee members representing major professional societies such as ACM SIGCOMM
Guido van Rossum
One of the most famous web developers in history is Guido van Rossum, the creator of the Python programming language. He’s a Dutch programmer with an eye for detail and a heart for sharing his knowledge with others. In case you don’t know what any of this means, here’s what you need to know:
Python is an object-oriented, interactive, high-level programming language that can be used for many different kinds of software development projects
Guido van Rossum created it. He’s awesome. It’s a good reminder of real craftsmanship, especially set against a trend like vibe coding
Rasmus Lerdorf & The Padrinos of PHP (Rasmus Lerdorf, Andi Gutmans, Zeev Suraski)
Rasmus Lerdorf is the creator of PHP, which he first released to the world in 1995. To this day, he remains the chief architect at Zend, a company that provides commercial support for PHP and related technologies. As you might imagine, this makes him one of the most influential web developers in history and responsible for billions upon billions of servers running on his creation daily.
If you’re not familiar with Rasmus, then you probably haven’t touched any type of server-side programming before. In short: He’s kind of a big deal! These people have created the technologies that we use daily.
