Redesigning a natural cosmetics magazine for Natursite

Client
Natursite Magazine
Industry
Online magazine · natural cosmetics & ecology
Website
natursite.com ↗
Regions served
Spain · Spanish-speaking readers

The challenge

Natursite has been publishing about natural cosmetics, ecology and natural remedies since 2010. Over the years that adds up to a large archive: recipes, product reviews, ingredient guides and coverage of trade fairs such as Biocultura, Cosmetorium and Ecocultura.

The magazine needed a website that does justice to that content: one that makes years of articles easy to browse, reads comfortably on a phone, and loads quickly enough to keep readers, and search engines, happy.

It also had to keep the business side working: advertising, analytics and cookie consent, without the weight slowing every page down.

My role

01

Web designer

A clean, image-led magazine design with rounded cards, a lime accent and a matching dark theme.

02

Web developer

A fast static build served through Cloudflare, with search, category archives and an RSS feed.

03

Technical SEO specialist

Article structured data, breadcrumbs, a complete sitemap and clean URLs for every post. Technical SEO.

The solution

A magazine layout built around the articles

Every page puts the content first, with the photography doing the work:

  • Homepage: a featured article slider, then a card grid of the latest posts with dates, so new content is always visible.
  • Category archives: sections such as Cosmética Natural, Antiedad and Remedios y Plantas, each with its own introduction.
  • Readable articles: a large hero image, clear headings, category tags and share buttons for Facebook, Pinterest, WhatsApp and LinkedIn.
  • Light and dark mode: a theme switch in the header, with both themes designed rather than inverted.

Fast and easy to run

The front end is a lightweight static site, so pages load quickly and there's far less to maintain:

  • Static pages behind Cloudflare: every article is pre-built and served from the edge.
  • Cache-busted assets: CSS and JavaScript files are versioned, so readers always get the latest design without stale caches.
  • Built-in search and RSS: readers can search the whole archive from the header, and subscribers get new posts through the feed.
  • Business essentials: advertising, Google Analytics and a cookie consent banner, integrated without dragging the pages down.

Built for search

With most readers arriving from Google, the SEO foundations were part of the build:

  • Structured data: each article is marked up as a BlogPosting, alongside Organization, WebSite, WebPage and BreadcrumbList data.
  • Breadcrumbs and clean URLs: short, readable addresses (for example /desodorante-natural-casero/) and breadcrumbs on every article.
  • Complete sitemap: an XML sitemap covering 170+ pages, with last-modified dates so updated articles are recrawled.
The results

A modern home for 16 years of content

  • 170+The whole archive, browsable: more than 170 pages organised into clear categories, with search across all of them.
  • FastStatic and cached at the edge: pre-built pages served through Cloudflare, with no database work on each visit.
  • SchemaSearch-ready articles: BlogPosting and breadcrumb structured data on every post, plus a sitemap with last-modified dates.
